My Story

 

Over the last 7+ years, I transitioned from corporate to the startup ecosystem, relocated internationally, advanced from an intern to Head of Growth, and bootstrapped 2x businesses.

Here’s how it unfolded:

At 18, I started my career with a 4-year scholarship at one of India’s biggest companies, which has annual revenues of more than $10 billion.

In 2015, I got promoted to manager and hit yearly sales goals of over $1M while leading a team.

Then, in 2018, I burned out and decided to walk away from my high-paying corporate job.

I believed getting a Master’s in International Business would be a great asset, so I moved to France and made it my new home.

The journey was not easy.

I taught myself, from SEO to PPC, marketing automation to lead generation, a 12-week growth marketing course, and a 20+ hour a week full-stack boot camp while working full-time.

And the results were pretty phenomenal.

• In just a few years, I made a significant leap from being an intern to being Head of Growth at a rapidly expanding startup.

• I bootstrapped 2x start-ups that get more than 150K organic users annually.

My mission is to be a “Marketing Intrapreneur.”

Digital Marketing

Head of Growth

Storefront is the world’s largest marketplace for short-term retail spaces. Its mission is to connect brands, e-commerce businesses and artists with space owners for short- term rentals, creating pop-up stores and events around the world.

Achieved a 30% decrease in cost per lead through the implementation of effective SEO and content performance strategies, resulting in more cost-effective marketing.

Shifted the company’s focus towards customer-centric strategies, enhancing user acquisition, activation, retention, revenue, and referral, leading to stronger customer relationships and loyalty.

Successfully leveraged organic growth levers to 2x overall traffic and quadruple transactional users, significantly boosting the company’s online visibility.

Improved website and landing pages performance through A/B testing and the creation of personalised experiences, targeting an increase in conversion rates from various activities including trials, webinar subscriptions, forms, CTAs, and white paper downloads.

Led paid acquisition efforts, generating MQL and SQL leads through the creation, management, and continuous optimization of paid acquisition funnels and campaigns across platforms like Linkedin Ads & Google Adwords.

Directed outbound sales enablement initiatives, identifying potential sales opportunities, building workflows, email sequences, and tracking capabilities.

Demonstrated leadership by hiring, onboarding, training, and managing both full-time employees and interns, promoting a productive work environment.

Operations & Customer Success Supervisor

Choice Hotels International (NYSE: CHH) is one of the largest and most successful lodging franchisors in the world. Choice currently franchises more than 7,000 hotels, representing nearly 570,000 rooms, in more than 40 countries and territories.

Enhanced customer relations and retention through the effective implementation and management of loyalty programs, resulting in increased repeat business and customer satisfaction.

Strategically planned supply chain schedules, ensuring smooth periodic inventory management and minimizing disruptions in operations.

Actively participated in day-to-day operations and conducted weekly reviews of customer service goals and feedback, driving continuous improvement in service delivery and customer experience.

Sales & Marketing Manager

Bowstring Studios has designed applications for companies like UBER India, HCL, SIKKA, and their portfolio has clients from all over the globe.

Effectively managed lead generation for B2B and B2C market segments, skillfully delivered client presentations and prepared comprehensive contract proposals to drive business growth.

Boosted site traffic and conversion of KPIs through the implementation of targeted SEO strategies, resulting in enhanced online visibility and user engagement.

Conducted insightful analysis of sales and market reports while adeptly managing customer databases, facilitating data-driven decision making and customer relationship management.

Spearheaded content creation for social media marketing, promotions, and communication campaigns, fostering brand awareness and audience engagement across multiple digital platforms.

Business Development Manager

ITC is one of India's foremost private sector companies and a diversified conglomerate with businesses spanning Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Hotels, Paperboards and Packaging, Agri Business and Information Technology. The Company is acknowledged as one of India's most valuable business corporations. ITC was ranked as India's most admired company.

Contributed to sales of USD 150K through securing beverage sponsorships and marketing promotions with high-profile partners including Bacardi, Pernod Ricard, Diageo, and Ab InBev.

Developed process mapping for current and future business prospects, enhancing strategic planning and forecasting accuracy.

Exceeded beverage budgets through achieving USD 1M in sales, marking a significant 28% YoY growth.

Analyzed quantitative and qualitative business data to develop solutions that fulfill customer requirements, driving customer satisfaction and retention.

Contributed to the hotel division properties being ranked as No. 1 Resort in Asia & No. 5 Resort in the World by Conde Nast Traveller during the tenure, reflecting exceptional service standards and guest satisfaction.

 

Led, rostered, and briefed associates, creating training manuals, conducting classroom sessions, and weekly meetings to foster a high-performing and skilled team.

2023

Successfully completed an intensive 6 Months Part-Time Full Stack Development Bootcamp at Ironhack, gaining comprehensive expertise in front-end and back-end technologies, and developing a robust understanding of the end-to-end web development process. 2021

Completed a 12-week Growth Marketing course at Growth Tribe, acquiring key skills in data-driven marketing strategies, customer acquisition, retention, and business growth tactics. Growth Tribe is a digital learning partner for both individuals & organisations, specialising in Growth, Digital Marketing, Data, UX Design & Digital Leadership. The course focusses on developing agile frameworks to test ideas rapidly and scale them for business growth.

2021

Acquired the Google Analytics Individual Qualification, demonstrating proficiency in leveraging analytics tools to measure, analyze, and optimize website performance and digital marketing efforts.

2020

Earned the Inbound & Content Marketing Certification from Hubspot, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of effective inbound marketing strategies and proficiency in creating engaging content to attract and retain customers.

2019

Grenoble Ecole de Management is one of the few management schools in the world to be triple accredited EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA: only about fifteen ‘Schools in France and 1% in the world benefit from it. Obtained a Master’s degree in International Business, gaining comprehensive knowledge of global business strategies, international market dynamics, and cross-cultural management.

2015

The Learning Institute of ITC Ltd, offers Welcomlegionnaire, a unique programme that develops “Made in ITC” managers. It is a four year programme for students passing the 12th class. The programme leads to a Management position. Gaining a thorough understanding of the tourism industry, including travel management, hospitality, and cultural dynamics influencing global tourism trends.

Europe's largest job search board for expats

Identifying a market gap for expatriates seeking English-speaking jobs in Europe, I utilized my skills in product development, automation, and marketing to create a dedicated job search platform. Motivated by personal experiences and the struggles faced by expatriates due to language barriers, I aimed to simplify their job-seeking journey.

The platform, offering comprehensive job listings across diverse industries, now aids over 150,000 job seekers in more than 20 European countries, demonstrating the platform’s significant impact and success.

Retail directory to connect with over 5000+ local partners

Recognizing the retail industry’s need for a comprehensive partner network, I led the development of a retail directory, now featuring over 5,000+ local partners. This platform addresses the challenge faced by clients of Storefront in finding additional services for their pop-up stores and events, facilitating collaboration and expansion.

Through intensive data collection, partner vetting, and user-friendly design, the platform now bolsters brand visibility and fosters strategic partnerships, contributing significantly to local market growth.

Go-To-Market Strategy using LinkedIn Ads for US expansion

To aid Aula Education’s US expansion, I devised a go-to-market strategy utilizing LinkedIn Ads. The choice of platform was driven by LinkedIn’s professional user base, aligning with Aula’s target demographic. This strategy effectively widened Aula’s reach, fostering its successful entry into the US market. 

50K Web Pages & Content Generation using Programmatic SEO

In order to dramatically boost Storefront’s online presence, I spearheaded the generation of 50,000+ web pages and content using Programmatic SEO. Recognizing that enhanced SEO can significantly increase business growth, I strategically employed this technique to optimize every transactional page. As a result, Storefront witnessed a 350%+ substantial surge in its search engine traffic, leading to increased visibility, 30% reduced CAC and cost savings of annual $500K PPC spends.

During my career, I had the chance to collaborate in different capacities with these great companies.

Rohan was the first member of our newly founded growth team at Storefront and one of the most valuable additions to this day. I had the chance to see him grow from junior project management to an actual manager, driving his own subteam of freelancers, virtual assistants, and junior members. Rohan is very much the "intrapreneur" type, which is perfectly suited to growth management. He learned to code and built his own websites, which in return are feeding his personal growth as a manager and team member. Rohan is very dedicated, learns fast & autonomously, and has an excellent understanding of how to draw growth objectives and measure progress and team velocity. He's been the lead on dozens of growth projects, many being so successful they have been turned into marketplace features or contributed to the +400% of Storefront's transactional traffic we've experienced over two years.
